Rome, November 23 - The film "The Water Lilies of Monet: A Spell of Water and Light", will be in Italian cinemas from November 26 to November 28 in collaboration with Timvision Production. The film, directed by Giovanni Troilo and produced by Ballandi Arts and Nexo Digital, tells the story of the father of Impressionism through the narration of Elisa Lasowski. It includes appearances by writer Ross King, photographer Sanne De Wilde, and the Fondation Monet gardener Claire Hélène Marron, in a mix of fiction and archival images that reveal the painter's life. In the story, the element that most characterised Monet's life comes forth, that of his passion for the landscape around him that quickly transformed into an obsession to show the beauty of water, light, and air on the canvas. The film is like a journey, accompanied by the music of Remo Anzovino, taking the viewer through the artist's various places: from Le Havre, where Monet left at age 19, to Giverny, the city along the Seine where he created the little world of flowers and water that he painted incessantly, through to Paris and the museums that pay him tribute - Musée Marmottan, Musée de l'Orangerie, Musée d'Orsay. The film focuses on his last work, the Grand Décoration, his most colossal, painted on enormous panels depicting his water lily pond. The work first went on display in 1927 at the inauguration of the Musée de l'Orangerie, but wasn't a success; however, Monet never knew, because he died five months prior to the opening.
