(ANSA) - Rome, December 21 - Italian Premier Mario Monti
will outline his "road map" for Italy on Sunday, but he will not
say whether he intends to stand at upcoming elections until some
days later, according to ANSA sources.
Monti plans to illustrate the measures his unelected
technocrat government has taken over the last year and what
reforms remain to be implemented at a hotly-awaited press
conference scheduled for Sunday.
Monti then intends to look for political parties willing to
endorse his agenda
Once he has seen the response, he will indicate his
intentions regarding his own future role.
There is speculation Monti, who is not aligned with a
political party at the moment, will stand as the premier
candidate for a group of centrist parties in elections expected
to take place on February 24.
