Rome, May 13 - Italy's Court of Cassation had ruled in favor of allowing private citizens to install videocameras on the external walls of buildings and homes pointed towards the street. Citizens who do so to protect their homes and families are not committing a crime against other people who live or work in the same street, it said. The only requirement is that they put up a notice saying that the area is under videosurveillance, it ruled.
