(ANSA) - Ripoli (Bologna), June 27 - Annamaria Franzoni, sentenced to 16 years in prison for the 2002 murder of her son in a very high-profile case, spent her first night with her family after her release to house arrest Thursday. Windows Friday morning remained shuttered on the house in Ripoli, outside of Bologna, where she joined her husband and older son.
The son left the house at 8:40 to feed the dog.
The father left before 7:30 to go to work.
Franzoni was transferred home from prison after a psychiatrist last week said she could be introduced back into society, and judges concluded she would have enough rehabilitation support and therapy. She was also banned from returning to the northern mountain village of Cogne, where the murder took place. The case involved the death of Samuele Lorenzi, 3, in January 2002 who was killed by a blow to the head while sleeping in his parents' bed. Franzoni has always maintained that a stranger broke into the family home and committed the murder, and that she did not kill her son.
