(ANSA) - Rome, May 2 - Coach Luis Enrique is probably
considering leaving AS Roma at the end of the season amid
frustration among the Serie A club's fans about poor results,
Director of Sport Walter Sabatini said on Wednesday.
The Spaniard talked about getting Roma playing like
Barcelona in the closed season after the club's new American
owners lured him away from the European and Spanish champions' B
side.
But the three-time Italian champions' form this season
has been erratic and their hopes of finishing in the top three
to qualify for next season's Champions League died when they
drew 0-0 at Chievo Verona on Tuesday.
"I think he is thinking about the possibility of saying
goodbye," Sabatini told Mediaset television.
"That's just what I think. It's not linked to anything he
said," he added, stressing that the club wanted the former
Spain, Real Madrid and Barcelona midfielder to stay on.
"As he does not feel support for himself, he does not feel
able to transmit that to the team and he does not want to put
Roma, the club or the team, in a situation of imbalance".
Luis Enrique's contract runs until the end of next season.
