"I am close with prayer to the people hit by the new earthquake in central Italy," the pope said via the @Pontifex_it account. Earlier this month the pope visited villages devastated by the August 24 6.0-magnitude quake that left almost 300 dead. "I didn't come before to avoid creating problems, given your condition," the pope told people in Amatrice. "I didn't want to be a nuisance".
