Rome, January 25 - The possibility that Bruce Springsteen will play the first European date of his 2016 World Tour at Rome's Circus Maximus looked more likely on Monday, after the annual Race for the Cure, which uses the same venue, was moved from the May 14 date also requested by the American singer. Concert organisers have asked city officials permission to occupy the venue from May 9-14 for set-up for the May 14 concert, and from May 15-19 for dismantling. The Race for the Cure organisers requested May 14 as well, but agreed to move their event to May 22. The last rock concert held in the ancient Roman chariot-racing stadium was The Rolling Stones in June 2014, which stirred public outcry over the city's price tag of a mere 8,000 euros for "occupation of public land". Following that controversy the city government raised tariffs for occupation of public land, which took the cost of Circus Maximus to 200,000 euros.
