Lawyer, two others arrested for arson, extortion

Imperia, December 19 - A lawyer was arrested Monday on suspicion of ordering a home set on fire on three separate occasions in order to drive out an elderly woman renter. Her removal would have freed up the real estate for purchase by a third party, with the lawyer brokering the deal. The incidents of arson took place in the Liguria tourist resort town of Ospedaletti between March and May this year. Two more suspects were also arrested. The three face charges of arson and extortion.
