Rome, January 20 - Ettore Messina spoke on Wednesday about his return as coach of Italy's national men's basketball team, which he led from 1993-1997. "Coming back to coach the national team is a thrill, definitely more than what I felt 23 years ago when I entered this hall," Messina said at the CONI Sala d'Onore (Hall of Honour). "Back then I didn't know what I was up against. This time I believe I have a precise idea of what it means to train the national team, and the great honour and responsibility it carries," he said. "This team has what it takes to qualify for the Olympics. It has talent, enthusiasm, valuable experience because it has played and won in important games and come just one step from coming in the top four at the European (Championship), and maybe it could have even gone to the finals," he said. "We have everything it takes and hopefully also the health so that everyone can play".
