Milan bourse plunges amid spate of suspensions

Milan, January 20 - The Milan bourse was off to a rocky start Wednesday after Asian markets closed down sharply on what analysts said were sinking raw materials prices, oil price volatility, and lowering investor confidence in the global economy. The FTSE Mib index opened -2.8% at 18,350 points only to plunge by 3.23% amid a spate of suspensions for excessive volatility, including MPS (-8.4%), Banco Popolare (-3.9%), Tenaris (-3%), Ferrari (-3.8%), FCA (-3.47%), Unipol (-2.8%), Exor (-1.8%). Elsewhere in Europe, the Parisian CAC 40 index opened -2.25% and the Frankfurt index at -2.25%.
