Italy has privileged position for Iran - ambassador (2)

Italy has privileged position for Iran - ambassador (2)

Rome, January 19 - Iranian Ambassador to Rome Jahanbakhsh Mozaffari told an ANSA forum on Tuesday that Italy "is in a privileged position" with Tehran in the post-sanctions era thanks to the long-standing and deep bilateral relations between the countries. "It's no coincidence that Italy is the first stage of our President Hassan Rouhani's trip to Europe," Mozaffari told the forum with ANSA Editor-in-chief Luigi Contu ahead of the Iranian head of State's visit to the Italian capital on January 25 and 26. Mozaffari welcomed the end of sanctions after the Vienna deal on Iran's nuclear programme. "We are convinced we won't go back to where we were before as the world has understood that sanctions and embargoes are not a solution," he said.
