Pisa, March 18 - Italy's Supreme Cassation Court has ordered a new trial for Antonio Logli, who was cleared a year ago of murdering his wife Roberta Ragusa in 2012, an attorney representing the plaintiffs said on Friday. The Cassation ruled in favor of the prosecution and plaintiffs in the Ragusa case, annulling the ruling by a preliminary hearings judge in Pisa who had cleared Logli of murder in March 2015, said lawyer Nicodemo Gentile, who represents the victim's family through non-profit organization Penelope Italia. The supreme court has ordered a new trial in Pisa. The man faces charges of voluntary manslaughter and of destroying and concealing a human body. Ragusa went missing on the night of January 12, 2012, in the small town of Gello near Pisa, after she found out her husband was having an affair with Sara Calzolaio, the former babysitter of their two children. Logli said he only realized his wife was not around on the morning of January 13, 2012, when he reported her missing. He told police he went to sleep the night before and woke up to realize his wife had not slept in their bed while Calzolaio later testified that he had told her to destroy the cell phones they used to communicate as lovers. She threw them away instead, and later led investigators to their location. Logli tried at first to keep their relationship a secret from police, claiming his wife had left of her own accord. He also appeared to be uncooperative in the search for his missing wife. The woman's body was never found.
