Police identify teenaged girl found dead on Messina beach
(ANSA) - Messina, August 10 - Police said Monday they had identified the teenage girl whose dead body was found on Messina's Lungomare Ringo beach. Ilaria Boemi, 17, was initially reported to be a woman in her mid-20s. Her parents identified the teen. On her Facebook profile, the student at the Ernesto Basile institute of art in Messina recently posted a verse from the song Ghost Ship: "We were born to die, a scream inside that no one can hear". No identity documents were found after passers-by alerted the authorities to the presence of the body, and no reports of a missing person matching her description had been made.
Police described the teen as having short hair, shaved at the sides and three parts of her body were pierced - her upper lip, tongue and nose. She was wearing light blue jeans, a black t-shirt and dark trainers.
There were no initial signs of violence or of a drugs overdose.
An autopsy was expected to be conducted in Messina later on Monday.
