Debate not 'ideological clash' on civil unions - Renzi (2)

Rome, January 15 - Premier Matteo Renzi said Friday he hoped parliamentary debate on civil unions over the next few days would not turn into "ideological clashes". Catholics in the premier's Democratic Party as well as its centre-right ally the New Centre Right, object to a provision for stepchild adoption in the bill and are calling for 'reinforced' foster care instead. What was "certain", he said, was that "we will have a law".
