Isabella Rossellini hails Jennifer Lawrence

Oscar winner 'reminds me of my mother'

Isabella Rossellini hails Jennifer Lawrence

Rome, January 12 - Oscar winning American actress Jennifer Lawrence has redefined the concept of modern femininity, Isabella Rossellini told ANSA on Tuesday. The two divas co-star in David O. Russell's 2015 drama Joy, opening in Italian movie theaters on January 28. "Her strength and her independence make me think of my mother," Rossellini said. "She redefined the concept of modern femininity, a bit like Marlon Brando did with masculinity," said the daughter of Swedish actress Ingmar Bergman and Italian director Roberto Rossellini. Lawrence, who at the age of 25 has already won one Academy Award and three Golden Globes, plays the title role in the 2015 American semi-biographical drama loosely based on Joy Mangano, a self-made millionaire who created her own business empire. Mangano was a divorced mother of three in the early 1990s when she invented the Miracle Mop and became an overnight success. Rossellini plays Trudy, the new girlfriend of Joy's dad played by Robert De Niro, who takes Joy under her wing and agrees to finance her business venture.
