Quarto mayor says won't quit (2)

(see previous). Naples, January 12 - The anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) mayor of Quarto near Naples, Rosa Capuozzo, said Tuesday she was not quitting even after being ejected from the M5S over alleged blackmail by a former M5S member linked to the local Camorra mafia. "The mayor, despite her expulsion decreed this morning by the 5-Star Movement, and the caucus of majority councillors have decided to continue," a statement said. M5S leader Beppe Grillo has issued several calls for Capuozzo to step down after her expulsion. "Above and beyond party colours," the statement said, "our priority and sense of responsibility towards citizens forces us to continue to administer our area with a clean conscience and honesty". The statement came shortly before Capuozzo went to see Naples prosecutors as a witness in the Mafia infiltration case.
