Government preparing inward-investment package
(ANSA) - Rome, September 18 - A package of measures aimed at boosting investment in the Italian economy will be unveiled this week, the government said Wednesday. The so-called Destination Italy package featuring 35 inward-nvestment-enhancing measures will be presented at a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Maurizio Lupi said. Part of the process will involve establishing Destination Italy SpA, an body that will gather financial resources and repackage them to make available to companies seeking investment. It will also provide assistance in better understanding and navigating business law. Premier Enrico Letta recently announced his "Destination Italy" project, involving several ministries working together to lure foreign direct investment into the country. Investment in Italy is lower than in its competitors, with rigid labour laws, slow justice and red tape frequently blamed.
