Yes to bank commission, no to show trials - Renzi

Yes to bank commission, no to show trials - Renzi

Rome, January 12 - Premier Matteo Renzi said Tuesday that he was in favour of a commission of inquiry into the Italian banking system over the last 15 years but not in favour of "show trials". He said he would like to see "the utmost transparency and discussions on merits but not show trials". Italy has seen several banking scandals in recent years, including one involving troubled Tuscan lender Monte dei Paschi di Siena. The latest scandal involves four small regional lenders whose rescue left investors holding worthless bonds.
