Messina, November 14 - Fabrizio La Gaipa, one of the candidates for the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) in this month's regional elections in Sicily, was arrested by Agrigento police on Tuesday in relation to a probe into alleged extortion, sources said. La Gaipa, a hotel sector businessman who was previously the president Valle dei Templi tourism district, ran as a candidate in the Agrigento ward for the regional assembly. The case regards alleged extortion of two of the businessman's employees, who were allegedly forced to sign false salary statements. La Gaipa has been put under house arrest. The M5S prides itself on being uncontaminated by the corruption scandals that have hit other parties.
