Macerata, April 20 - A man with reported psychiatric problems stabbed his parents in their sleep Wednesday night, police said Thursday. The man, 39, stabbed his 68-year-old father in the throat and his 65-year-old mother in the abdomen, police said. Neither parent is in a life-threatening condition, medical sources said. The aggressor, Augusto Fiastrelli, has been arrested and is under guard in the psychiatric ward of Macerata hospital, charged with the attempted murder of his father Ermanno and grievous bodily harm against his mother Maria Ricci. The incident took place in the town of Passo di Treia, in the eastern Marche region.
