CGIL's Camusso calls for action on contract renewals (2)
Union leader wants major national protest
18 Ottobre 2016
Rome, October 18 - Susanna Camusso, the leader of Italy's biggest trade-union confederation, the left-wing CGIL, said Tuesday that she wants the other big two unions to join in action calling for the renewal of many collective contracts for both public and private-sector workers. "We'll propose action to support the renewal of contracts in the civil service and private sector to (union confederations) CISL and UIL," Camusso said. She added this this could take the form of "a major national protest" featuring every group of workers. Camusso also said the government had not allocated enough money to pay raises in new deals for civil servants.
