Turin, January 7 - The finance police seized 250 tonnes of toxic waste from an 8,000-square-meter illegal industrial dump site, law enforcement sources said Thursday. The waste, most of it generated by a printing and bookbinding firm, included asbestos, fluorescent neon tubes, isolating materials, highly flammable plastics, 6,000 kilos of toxic chemicals, and waste oil. Eight different illegal dump sites were cleaned up in the six-month operation, which took place in Turin as well as the nearby towns of Candiolo, Givoletto, and San Gillio.
