Electronic ID card comes to Italy (2)

Rome, December 31 - A decree was published Thursday introducing into Italy, after a wait of almost 20 years, an electronic ID card. The new card will bear a person's fingerprints and will allow them to say whether they want to be organ donors, among other things. The new card, which incorporates Italy's existing health ID card, was first suggested in 1997.
