Rome, December 31 - Premier Matteo Renzi said Thursday that now is the time to invest in Italy's chronically impoverished South. "We have unblocked resources that had been frozen for years and that need to be exploited," he told Naples-based Il Mattino paper. "Enough of the recriminations, and this goes for (my) Democratic Party (PD) as well - Italy needs domestic consumption and confidence in order to restart. We have a mountain of immobilized money that, were it in circulation, would have a massive multiplication effect on the economy". Renzi is currently on holiday with his family in the Alpine ski resort of Courmayeur.
