(supersedes previous)Rome, December 29 - Consumer confidence dropped to 117.6 points in December, down from a historic high of 118.4 points in November, Istat national statistics agency said Tuesday. The consumer confidence index has risen 20 points this year and "remains elevated", the agency said. As well, December business confidence dropped to 105.8 points from 107.1 points in November. This is the lowest figure since August, Istat said. Confidence dropped the most in the construction and retail sales sectors, the agency said.
